1 Measure the Garage Door to Install the Seal
Start by measuring the width, length, thickness, and height of your garage door. These measurements will help you find a garage stop with an integrated sealing lip. A few garage doors have an aluminum track that houses a rubber seal. The seal will crack and become less durable over time. 2 Remove the Garage Door Bottom Seal
To ensure that your garage door track is not in the way of the weather seal, lift the door up enough to remove the rubber bulb. In some cases, it may be necessary for the track to be broken open with a flat screwdriver. If the problem is particularly difficult, you can cut it into pieces and remove it.
Clean the bottom of your door. Cut the new seal to the required length with a knife. Slide the weather seal over the door by inserting the T-shaped edges into the track. It takes a lot of effort to pull the seal over the door.
Remove the rubber seal from a wooden garage door. Use a wood sealer to seal the wood. While the sealer is drying on the wood, cut the aluminum track to the required size. Make a notch at each end so it fits around the roller. The track should be fixed in place by applying an even layer of caulk to the door’s front edges.
Wipe the area between the door and its sections with a rag or other cleaning products. Be careful not to touch the fingers. Install the V weather stripping, which is pressure sensitive. For each section, repeat the process.
3 Install Threshold
Next, you will need to move toward the threshold. Start by cleaning concrete with an oil-based cleaner. Next, use water and soap. Rinse the concrete and let it dry. Roll the threshold until it is in the desired position. Place the hump on the side of your door and cut the threshold to the same length as the door opening.
Close the door gently by pressing down on the threshold. Make sure that the hump of the door seal is in line with it. The threshold’s edges should be drawn in chalk on the ground. Place the threshold. Close the door and secure it to the threshold.
4 Install Stop
